Overview of the solar installation process
- In most circumstances installing a Solar PV System is quite a straight forward operation. There are only two parts to the installation, the panel work and the electrical work. It may take anywhere between 2 to 4 hours to install a 1.5kw 8 panels system and of course more time will be required for bigger systems and if the building is double or multiple storeys or does not have adequate access for the installation .
For peace of mind we would like to inform you that all of the systems are actually supervised or installed by a qualified CEC accredited installer/electrician.
- First of all, our representatives will assess your roof space and orientation on Google Earth or by personally visiting you at the designated property of the installation to ascertain whether it is possible to fit the solar panels at a suitable orientation.
- If the representatives make a personal visit they may sometimes suggest the placement of the inverter but if not, the fitters/installers will work it out with you on the day of the installation. When the representatives visit they may also scope your house and gather information of the building to pass onto the fitters/installers so that they can be better prepared for the installation.
(It is best practice to have the inverter under cover shaded from the sun and the rain but since our inverters are fully weatherproof, in some circumstances they may be exposed to the rain but not in the sun in order to prolong the life of your inverter.)
- On the day of the installation the fitters/installers will again assess your property before beginning the work. Roof work involves fixing brackets for the rails, once the rails are on, the panels are secured to the rails.
- Some work may be required in the roof cavity in order to run and secure cables to wooden or metal members.
- Ground work involves hanging the inverter and switch box to the wall.
- After all the above steps have been completed then the electrician/CEC accredited installer will connect and test the system.
- On the day of installation please keep clear when the work is in progress especially the side of the roof where the panels are being installed as equipment may accidentally slide and fall. To prevent accidents, please mindful of children and pets.
